What is Lead Generation?

Lead Gen 101

Welcome one, welcome all! You have entered into what may be the most enthralling article ever written. It is imperative that you understand what the lead generation process is before you begin building your digital assets. Here, we’ll cover the ins and outs of what lead generation is, and how you stand to make money with the process. Let’s roll!

What is a Lead?

Generally speaking, a lead is a potential customer for any given business or service. A lead typically consists of a name and a method of contact, usually an email address and/or phone number. There are different variations of leads – cold, warm, and hot, which we will briefly expand upon here.

Cold lead: An individual that is not actively searching for your business or service provided. They will typically require the greatest amount of time to close a sale, seeing as how you must inform the customer of your service, explain why the customer needs your service, and finally sell them on the idea that they should purchase this service through you.

Warm Lead: Someone who is be searching for information regarding your business or service. They may be comparing businesses and prices, and are typically looking to make a purchase in the near future. These leads are easier to manage, seeing as how they are already aware of their need for your service.

Hot Lead: This is a potential customer that is actively searching for a business or service to purchase. They are the easiest of the potential clients to close a sale with, though the opportunity will be lost if you take too long to respond. Again, they are looking to buy now!

What is Lead Generation?

Lead generation is the process of uh… generating leads. *crowd applause*

Online lead generation is an absolutely booming business. The concept is simple – gather potential clients for a business, pass them off to the business for a fee, both of you prosper. Leads are typically generated through a website where a customer is searching for a given good or service (warm/hot leads). Some of the big players in the lead generation game are:

The list goes on. A business owner will typically pay a yearly fee to be listed on the site along with paying the website per lead, which is anywhere from $15 – $60+ per lead generated.

What is a Lead Generation Property?

Here at the Digital Real Estate Empire, we teach people how to build profitable lead generation properties. For a lead generation asset, your objective is to create a targeted website dedicated to gathering leads for one specific business niche and area, i.e. Carpet Cleaners in Denver, CO. A lead generation website consists of the following:

  • Text content describing the service(s) offered
  • A contact form that gathers the customer’s name, email, phone number, and any other pertinent info
  • Means for the customer to contact you immediately (typically a tracking phone number)

These websites are simple, visually appealing, and created for one purpose – to capture customer leads.

How Do Customers Find Your Website?

Let’s say you as a customer are looking to get your carpets cleaned, what do you do? 99% of the modern world will whip out their phones and Google “Carpet Cleaners Near Me”. People love convenience, so they are most likely going to click on the top search result that Google gives them. If time is not of the essence, they may compare the first few websites and make a decision from there. Once your site is published, you are tasked with getting your website ranked on page one of Google for your given search terms. Websites are ranked on Google through a number of factors, such as:

  • The amount of content the website has
  • The optimization of the content that is on the website
  • The age of the website
  • The number of other websites that are linking back to this website

Altering what is outlined above is known as Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. Here at The Digital Real Estate Empire, we teach you how to get your lead generation website ranked quickly and efficiently. It is important that once a customer lands on your website, the information given to them is quick and concise.

Got Leads?

Once your website is built out and ranked on Google, hot leads will start to roll in. As we discussed earlier, these are customers that are looking for service and are ready to pull the trigger immediately. As these leads start to trickle in, you have the option to either: A. Give the leads to a business to establish a good rapport or B. Sell these leads to a business. Here at the Empire, we teach you to do the following:

  1. Give the first few leads to a business as a show of good faith
  2. Enter into negotiations for further leads
  3. Land automatic monthly payment deals to secure all future leads

This turns your lead gen website into a monthly cash cow. Once those auto payments are set and you have your leads automatically sending to the business owner, it’s hands-off!
